Wayne's last letter to Lucile said he was going to bring her something and is she mad!

Sun. Feb. 2, 1941

Dear Diary,

What a day! Lucile sent me a note and I read it about 4:30 this morning, then went back to bed. Got up at 7:30 or 8:00 and got breakfast. Went up to Lucile’s after dinner and we came down when Mary & Caroline went back to Almond.

Did we talk. Wayne's last letter to Lucile said he was going to bring her something and is she mad! We got to Bible Study just as Mrs. Abbey was leaving. Then we monkeyed around until C.E. time.

Helen, Mary Low and I wrote the silliest letter to “Aunt Polly” asking advice and signing Lucile’s name.

Mary Low has somehow gotten into her head that Leigh & I have had a fight. She declares she’s going to call him up and ask him. It made me about sick.

While I had Mary Low upstairs in the dark trying to get her not to, Helen and Lucile tied my kerchief & gloves together, turned my coat wrong side out and fixed things in general.

I led C.E., used Dautell’s book, “Four Pertinent Questions” and used, “Why blood,” then Linford preached a really good sermon (illegible).

Lucile & I came home and talked a lot more.

I don’t know just what to think. Leigh hasn’t been up since 2 weeks ago this morning when he came with Wayne. I don’t much care. I took his picture down and put it away, where Lucile couldn’t find it too.

Me.
