She says he didn’t kiss her, only put his arm around her. I wonder.

Dear Diary,
Wayne was home! He and Leigh came up to church. I was singing in the choir. After church they brought me up and we went up to Lucile’s. Then she came back down here, she wasn’t at church, and stayed. We went to Bible Study.
Dick Parve, Parell or something, Miss Crone’s brother or cousin, or something, was there. He & Lucile, (Linzy?), & Lillian did dishes. They shut the door. We were singing and the kids rushed in saying Wayne and Leigh were downstairs. Lucile wouldn’t believe them and they said they were going down and tell him she was up there with Dick. You should have seen the way she tore out and downstairs. It was a mean trick though for I think Dick liked her until tonight.
Tonight we were nearly ready to go to bed when Wayne called. He came up to tell her good-bye. She had to entertain him in the dining-room. Did we all talk. Then she went out on the porch with him. She says he didn’t kiss her, only put his arm around her. I wonder. Lucky girl! Then Chris Flynn says Sundays are dull!
Oh yes, Lucile pretended not to believe Wayne was here — the kids are going to write him for proof — and told him and he’s going to write that it was his twin brother. O Tempora! O World! What lives we mortals had. Me.
