Mary's Diary

romance and war in 1941

The quizz team met at Chris’ for a session tonight.

Mon, Mar. 30, 1941

Dear Diary,

I stayed after school tonight and finished, “What Uncle Sam means to me,” for English. Then I wandered around the halls with Lucile. Did we talk! Went to Aunt Cassie’s for supper.

The quizz team met at Chris’ for a session tonight. We discussed, recussed and cussed everything. Bill Mc. sat next to me and we had a lot of fun. He was so cute, said, “Gosh, I’m just beginning to realize how much I don’t know how dumb I am.” Then when it came time to come home he asked to take me up. He didn’t seem to mind either. But it was raining and there wasn’t room for Gerald, Don, B of M, Bill & I in the coupe. Chris said her uncle would take some of us and then said me. I wish I knew what the look Bill gave me meant. It didn’t look like, “Gosh that is a relief.” It probably was though. At least it was fun and we’ve got to meet again.

Me.

P.S. Wayne might take the 4 of us down Sun.
