Mary's Diary

romance and war in 1941

Lucile told me that she felt just like the rabbit in McGregor’s garden.

Sat. Feb. 28

Dear Diary,

I went to Bolivar with Alice this morning while she got her tooth pulled. She got herself a new plaid skirt. That’s about all we did do. Oh, I got some suspenders for my new skirts tonight. Lucile came and we went to church. Jerry Giddings had taken Lulu to the game. Laura & Lucile were supposed to go with them. Lucile went with me. We weren’t going to tell Mama who drove but she kept asking. Then we got up to Lucile’s and Gennie asked if Lucile went to the game. Then we got upstairs and Gennie asked if I had come. Lucile told me that she felt just like the rabbit in McGregor’s garden. She has a letter from Aunt Polly telling her to look them over and then apologize to Wayne, tell him that it won’t happen again. She got up about 1:00 to show me.
